Announcement of 2026 Apes Valentes and Maria Sibylla Merian Student Award Recipients
Congratulations to all of this year’s recipients!
The PSU Center for Pollinator Research and Insect Biodiversity Center offers undergraduate and graduate student summer research and outreach training award opportunities. This year we have nine award recipients, outlined below, for two different award programs. The Apes Valentes Student Awards fund research and creative education projects aimed at understanding pollinator biology and improving their health. The Maria Sibylla Merian Research and Outreach Program supports projects aimed at improving understanding and appreciation of biodiversity and conservation in insects more broadly.

One of these awards will also support a Frost Museum Undergraduate Butterfly Intern. This intern will database butterflies at the Frost Entomological Museum to understand shifting butterfly populations through time and perform field monitoring of butterfly populations.
