: Dr. Underwood's research focuses on honey bee colony management and its effects on honey bee health. She conducts applied research that can be used by beekeepers directly. She studies various aspects of organic beekeeping, indoor winter storage of honey bee colonies, the properties of spotted lanternfly honeydew honey, and more and aims to deliver the information to beekeepers through extension efforts, such as online courses, webinars, workshops, articles and books.
