A small wooden bee hotel sits on a table

Solitary Bee Hotel Workshop

Date & Time: May 26, 2023 from 04:00 PM - 05:30 PM

Location: The Arboretum at Penn State

Bee hotels are a great way to support pollinator diversity in home gardens. They provide suitable nesting sites for solitary cavity-nesting bee species, which make up 30% of the 437 species in Pennsylvania. In this hands-on workshop led by the Center for Pollinator Research at Penn State, participants will learn about the solitary bees they may find in their Central PA backyards. They will then have the opportunity to build a bee hotel from precut wood, hollow reeds, and pre-drilled wood blocks. After attending this program, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and supplies to manage a solitary bee hotel. Participants must be 18+.
